Course Detail (Course Description By Faculty)

Art + Business Lab (42730)

What might be possible if we combine the best of artistic creativity and expression with the best of business innovation and entrepreneurship? The class begins with this question, followed by an examination of each realm and their potential for convergence. Through video-based case studies, in-class exercises, readings, and group projects, students will explore commercial and civic possibilities at the intersection of art and business. Guest speakers will include artists, entrepreneurs, and scholars whose work foregrounds the value of artistic enterprise. The culminating assignment will be to develop a plan, prototype, and pitch for a new for-profit or not-for-profit venture.
