Course Detail (Course Description By Faculty)

Crafting and Delivering Persuasive Narratives (38107)

As artificial intelligence transforms the workplace, making technical and analytical skills more accessible, the ability to communicate ideas clearly, strategically, and persuasively is becoming increasingly important as a professional differentiator.

This highly practical course provides students with a comprehensive framework for analyzing audiences, developing compelling messages, and communicating effectively across a wide range of professional contexts and media.

Students will learn analytical tools and practical processes for crafting and delivering effective communication, and will practice applying them in a variety of settings, including video, conference calls, one-on-one meetings, presentations, and speeches. Through structured feedback and critique, students will strengthen not only their own communication skills, but also their ability to analyze the communication of others and learn from constructive criticism.

The course emphasizes audience analysis, narrative structure, and delivery strategy. Students will learn how to adapt their communication to different audiences, purposes, and formats, and how to communicate complex ideas with clarity, precision, and influence.

By the end of the course, students should be more effective communicators across multiple media, with greater confidence in their ability to develop, present, and defend their ideas in a wide range of professional situations.
