This course reviews financial instruments in advanced economies. We will discuss futures, ETFs and equities, swaps, loans and bonds, cryptotokens, and options. We will discuss motivation for their existence, trading landscapes, legal and business considerations, and pricing/risk treatment. Our homework will be not-quite weekly case studies, consisting mainly of spreadsheets or data query results. At the end of the quarter, we will have a final group project with live presentations.
Students are expected to possess decent calculus skills
Homework assignments will be not-quite weekly, consisting of work done in spreadsheets and/or results of data queries. Grades will consist of 25% class participation, 30% final project, and 55% case studies.
