Competitive Strategy (42001)

The focal point of this course is you, the strategist. The objective is to enhance your abilities as a strategist along three dimensions: (1) Diagnosis: recognizing the obstacles and challenges that you face as well as your best opportunities (2) Transformation: developing a playbook for initiating and managing change (3) Persuasion: winning hearts and minds on the merits of your ideas.

The class meetings will engage you in case analyses, discussions, expert opinions, (my) lectures, and (your) strategy presentations. The course will expose you to the challenge of crafting and executing strategy in a wide variety of business circumstances including crises, transformations, disruptions, and hyper-growth.
No Non-Booth students. Business 33001: strict. Cannot enroll in BUSN 42001 if BUSN 20900 taken previously.

Required reading includes cases and a text book.
Course grades are based on case write-ups (groups), problem sets, a final exam, and a company report (groups). Cannot be taken pass/fail.
