Course Detail (Course Description By Faculty)

Business Statistics (41000)

This course provides fundamental statistical knowledge and practice, essential to data science in modern business enterprise. Examples are drawn from economics, finance, revenue management, pricing strategies, supply chain management, marketing, accounting, and more. The course also serves as a quantitative foundation for Chicago Booth elective courses in marketing, finance, economics and more advanced courses in data science.

The course is largely divided into three parts: (1) probability theory for decision making, (2) statistical tools to learn from data, and (3) linear regression for prediction.

If your math background feels less strong, taking a math review course before the class begins may be helpful.
